NNote ("the Service") is a free, offline-first note-taking application provided as a static website and Progressive Web App. By accessing or using the Service you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
NNote is an outliner that stores all note data locally on your device, in your web browser's storage. The Service does not operate accounts and does not store your notes on any server. Optional features let you transfer data directly between your own devices (peer-to-peer sync) or sync data through your own Google Drive account. Details are described in the Privacy Policy.
Because your notes exist only on your own devices (and, if you enable it, in your own Google Drive), you are responsible for backing up your data. Clearing your browser's site data, uninstalling the browser, or losing the device can permanently delete your notes. The app provides Markdown export and Google Drive sync for this purpose, and using them regularly is strongly recommended. The Service provider has no copy of your data and no ability to recover it.
You agree not to use the Service to:
The content you create in NNote is yours. You retain all rights to your notes, and the Service claims no license over them — it never receives them in the first place. The NNote application, its design, and its documentation remain the property of their author.
Optional features rely on third-party services under their own terms — for example, Google Drive sync is subject to Google's terms of service. Your use of those features constitutes acceptance of the relevant third-party terms.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", free of charge, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to fitness for a particular purpose, availability, or freedom from defects. Features that depend on browser capabilities (such as on-device AI) may not be available in all browsers and may change as browsers evolve.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the author of NNote shall not be liable for any loss of data, loss of profits, or any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use of, or inability to use, the Service.
The Service and these terms may be updated from time to time. Material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
Questions about these terms can be raised on the NNote Discord server, or see the About page for more on who operates the Service.
